Manx Gas has committed to a one year sponsorship of Zoe Gillings in order to help her compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Zoe is currently the UK snowboarding champion and ranked seventh in the world.
Manx Gas Managing Director, Alan Bates, said: "Zoe Gillings is an exceptional athlete and Manx Gas is very pleased to be able to help Zoe realise her full potential. Providing her with this sponsorship will enable her to purchase equipment, arrange travel, and pay for any other training expenses."
For us at Manx Gas, it is also about giving something back to the island as well as showing how we, as a company, value excellence and endeavour.
Zoe was born and brought up in the Isle of Man and started skiing when she was 4 years of age. Ten years later she was dominating the youth category at the British championships winning 37 consecutive events.
She is currently British No 1 in Boardercross (the newest Olympic discipline in which a group of racers begin a race at the same time at the top of an inclined course, in an attempt to reach finish line at the end of the course first) and 3rd in the World Cup Standings.
