Natural Gas Price Reduction - 16.4% saving in 2007

This latest adjustment takes effect from the 1st of July and brings an overall saving of 16.4% to all natural gas domestic users this year alone.

Commenting on the price reduction, Managing Director Alan Bates said, 'We have been able to reduce the unit cost of natural gas to our domestic central heating customers by a further 8.8% due to much greater long term stability in the wholesale natural gas markets. We monitor these markets extremely closely and where we have seen volatility in the market during recent years, we are now seeing a stronger UK natural gas import infrastructure giving the market increased confidence that we are entering a more stable period.'

This reduction will be a welcome saving to the natural gas users in the Douglas, Onchan, Union Mills and Glen Vine areas but will not apply to LPG users. Alan Bates explained, 'The LPG wholesale market is completely different to natural gas and has not shown the same stability. LPG prices are still high because the market is linked to crude oil which is extremely volatile at present. We will continue to monitor this but the market unfortunately shows no signs of imminent improvement.'

With effect from 1st July the price per unit for natural gas will reduce by 0.481 pence, a saving of 8.8% which, when linked with the earlier reduction in April, makes a combined saving of 16.4%.
